Guess who's going to see the OotP midnight premiere tonight?
No, not me.
My fourteen year old sister.
Yeah.
She was invited by friends (and a parent), and I'm of course, happy that she gets to go. But you know what? I want to go. Except my parents (for reasons known only in their own crazy minds) refuse to let me drive (at all, but certainly not at night)...and neither of them is willing to take me.
When I was fourteen, I was a grade further ahead than she is (I'm on the young end of my grade, she's on the older), and Mum and Dad would never have even considered letting me go to a midnight movie. She gets the benefit of my forging the path ahead, and I get zip. Not only that, I also have to go to bed early, because I have work in the morning. I would be completely capable of going to the movie, and still going to work. It wouldn't be fun (the work part), but it's do-able. But, oh noez, Mummy has to work and she just can't manage it. And Dad has to work--although he works at home and could entirely sleep an extra two hours in the morning and just tack them onto the end of his day (or just eliminate the time I know he spends playing racing games online)--so he couldn't possibly take me.
I'm going to be eighteen in a few weeks, and my sister gets to do more stuff than I do.
SUCK.
