Last night was the most INTENSE Monopoly game of my ENTIRE LIFE. FIVE HOURS. SHOUTING, SUICIDE, STRIPPERS AND TROPHY BOYS WIVES. It was awesome. A++, would play again.

Unfortunately, I was sitting half on a matress on the floor, so my lower back and tailbone are KILLING ME NOW, plus I had ballroom dance this morning, with rumba and HIP ACTION OW. But now I'm back in my room, and it's time for...more picspam! (Very Gerard-heavy)

"Thank you," Gerard says, quietly, and he squeezes Frank's hand. "Look, I love you, okay? And I know what you are. I... I just don't want to have to hear this from other people first." He feels almost sick, still half-listening to the conversation going on around them.

Frank nods and tries to close his ears to the voices but he can't quite make it go away, especially with the rest of the bus practically silent. It takes all of his self-control not to wince, to draw attention and give himself away.

"I can't believe they haven't caught this freak."

"--kids, yeah, and they were too ripped up for the police to tell if he, you know--"

At that Gerard's hand, still holding Frank's, squeezes hard and almost painful. He's sure Frank didn't (or is he? Some part of him points out that he just doesn't want to think about if Frank did)--Frank wouldn't--but he needs to know. "Did you--" he mouthes, glad that the seat across from them is empty.

Frank shakes his head as emphatically as he can without being painfully obvious, and looks at Gerard with his most pleading eyes. I would never. He hates that the papers always assume things like that, mixing truth with lies until nothing feels real anymore.

Gerard breathes out a sigh of relief, body relaxing visibly, hand loosening its tight grip around Frank's. I could deal with the rest, but not that. "Good," he mouths, and then, "Thank you."

Frank smiles, weak and exhausted, but it cheers him a little that he can at least give Gerard this one thing. He shuts his eyes, wishing that the tension would go away so he could get some sleep and get away from this monumentally uncomfortable conversation.

"Let's get some sleep," Gerard murmurs into his ear, then leaning heavily against the window, hand still entwined in Frank's. He closes his eyes, tries to relax and block out the conversation around them. He can sleep just about anywhere, but this time he has a feeling he's going to be doing a lot of pretending to be asleep for Frank's sake.

Frank shuts his eyes as well, but he can't manage anything more than an uneasy drifting. Still, he refuses to open his eyes for the next few hours, until he feels almost like he's slept when the bus finally stops.

Gerard stays awake the entire time, eyes screwed shut, trying not to listen to conversation and focus on the scattered thoughts in his own mind. Finally, the bus stops and he opens his eyes, looks over at Frank, reaches out to shake him awake. "We're here," he says, trying to keep himself from sounding too excited. They're here and Brian's house is less than a mile away.

Frank follows Gerard off the bus, taking care to avoid the talkers from in front of them. He's mentally exhausted, and it starts to show physically--the walk seems like an eternity, even though he knows it's not even a mile.

Still, they make it to Brian's in one piece, and that's all that really matters.

Frank tenses a little, but he doesn't look away from the accusation. "I took care of the problem, just like I said I would."

"So I hear." Brian's words are flat, and he stares at Frank for a long moment before looking back at Gerard. He smiles a little at last, still harsh at the edges but generally warm. "Nice hair, man."

Gerard runs a hand through his hair, a little self-conscious. "You don't have to worry about me setting my hair on fire anymore," he says, smiling embarrassedly. He's glad Brian's isn't making a big deal about what happened in Chicago--not that he was expecting him to, but he's still grateful.

"Have you heard from Mikey?" he asks, hopefully. He hasn't talked to his brother in what seems like a year, not since they left for Gabe's.

Brian shakes his head. "I don't think he's contacting anybody who might have seen you, the cops are still watching him pretty closely."

Frank frowns a little. "Is he in any danger?" He likes Mikey, they always got along really well, and he doesn't want Mikey suffering for his sake. Plus, he knows Gerard would never survive if something happened to his brother.

Brian shakes his head again. "I don't think so. The police don't have anything they can pin on him and everyone else is kind of afraid of him now that they know about his total psycho of an older brother." He grins, looking at Gerard.

Gerard sighs, relieved. He wants to talk to Mikey, sure, but as long as he's safe he can't be too unhappy with the whole matter.

"You guys can go set your stuff down in the extra room," Brian offers, after a moment. "You look beat."

Frank nods, grateful, and walks back. It doesn't look like Brian has changed it since they were here last--still a bed and cot. He drops his duffel on the floor and rolls his shoulders, trying to get rid of the day's tension. "God, I never want to sit that much ever again."

"Yeah, really," Gerard says, sprawling out spread-eagled on the floor, eyes closed. He sighs, stretching. "I'm so sick of being on the road." He's not sure when he should bring up what Frank promised to talk to him about; he wants to know but he wants to relax, at the same time.

Frank sits next to him, carefully not touching, and hugs his knees to his chest. It's a clearly defensive posture, but he thinks he's earned the right to feel a little defensive, consider he's probably about to confess all the horrible things he's done to the man he loves. "So...do you want to hang with Brian, or should we just get this over with?"

Gerard sits up and swallows hard, forcing his next words out. "Let's just get it over with," he says, quiet. He looks over at Frank, expression decided. He's going to hear this out, and he's not going to freak out. He's not.

Frank doesn't want to say it, but he does. "Okay. Let's do this." He closes his eyes, inhales deeply, then opens just one, peering cautiously over at Gerard. "Do you want to, like, ask questions? Or should I just talk?"

Gerard hesitates for a moment before finally saying, "I wouldn't know what to ask." He knows what he's heard from the people on the bus and nothing more--any questions he would have would be "Did you do this? And this? And this?" and he doesn't want it to be like that.

"Well." Frank doesn't want to just sit here like a confessional, listing off all the things he's done, but it looks like that's what's going to happen. "You know I killed people. A lot of people. I picked them up at clubs mostly, so never anyone who was under like, fourteen." He takes a breath, rubbing his nose. "Um, I did some intense stuff. Before I killed them. Sometimes after."

"What do you mean, intense stuff?" Gerard asks, hesitant. He knows Frank said he'd never done anything like--well, he doesn't want to think about it--with children, but Gerard isn't discounting the possibility that Frank's done more than his share with people who are older.

"Mostly like, what you heard on the bus. Trying things out with skin and, uh, I went through a phase when I was sewing the eyes shut, like X marks. A lot of just, messing around with the knives. You know." Except Gerard doesn't know, and Frank's the freak here. He's trying to stay pretty even keel when he talks, not do anything that will spook Gerard.
