Last night was the most INTENSE Monopoly game of my ENTIRE LIFE. FIVE HOURS. SHOUTING, SUICIDE, STRIPPERS AND TROPHY BOYS WIVES. It was awesome. A++, would play again.

Unfortunately, I was sitting half on a matress on the floor, so my lower back and tailbone are KILLING ME NOW, plus I had ballroom dance this morning, with rumba and HIP ACTION OW. But now I'm back in my room, and it's time for...more picspam! (Very Gerard-heavy)

"Yes," Gerard informs him, trying to keep a straight face. "Terrible." He can imagine the looks on their faces (why his mind made them middle-aged and frumpy, he doesn't know) and it's too much; he bursts out laughing.

"That'd be so fucking sweet," Frank sighs and finally stands, wandering to find his shoes. The right one is easy enough, but the left seems determined to evade him. "Think Brian will like your new look?"

Gerard pulls on his socks, huffing out a sigh (because they're a little damp, probably from when he was walking around in the woods, he suspects). "He--probably. He kept telling me to get it cut. I think he was afraid that I was accidentally going to set it on fire." Therein lying the problem with lighting cigarettes with his hair in his face (and it was worse when he was drunk, to be sure).

Frank snickers a little, and gives a little victory cry when he finds his other shoe halfway behind the bathroom door. "Dude, stop giving more material to the true crimers. My boyfriend is some kind of deranged pyromaniac?"

Gerard snorts. "It's more trying to light my cigarettes and less pyromania," he says, yanking on a shoe without bothering to untie it. "Though I'm sure the whole 'former alcoholic' thing doesn't work in your favor either."

"Well, obviously I'm such a deranged lunatic that I would draw a sad, broken man to my bosom and make you dependent on scraps of my affection so I can twist your mind and make you my obedient loveslave." Frank grumbles a little when the knot of his shoelaces refuses to yield.

"That's not bad," Gerard says speculatively. "Maybe you could write the book on yourself--make it under a penname and claim exclusive hidden sources." Of course, he hasn't forgotten that the world thinks he's the deranged psychopath, so any books would be on him, not Frank.

"Nah, I'm an idea man. I can't write for shit." Fully dressed at last, Frank glances at the clock--10:40--and sighs. "I guess we have to actually start heading to the buses now."

Gerard looks around, picking up his coat from the corner by the door and shrugging it on. "Yeah, let's go." He's glad it's early enough in the day to wear sunglasses, just one more thing to make him less recognisable.

Frank's really impressed with Gerard's transformation--with the glasses and hair, he's practically unrecognizable to the layman. They don't have to slink around half as much when Franks goes to buy the tickets, and they get on the bus without much fanfare. Frank leans back in the seat, already bored to tears.

"It's not gonna be that long, dude. Just go back to sleep," Gerard says in a low voice, but he freezes. A few seats up, there's a group of people talking, and he hears his name in their conversation, unmistakably. He gives Frank a panicked look.

Frank reaches over to grab Gerard's hand, squeezing a little. Calm down. Just stay calm and it will be fine. He tenses, listening as best he can over the rumble of the engine, catching half-sentences.

"--fucking sicko, I mean, god. Have you read this?"

"--fourteen, with like, no skin left on her."

Gerard's eyes are almost comically wide, looking at Frank out of the corner of his eye. You did what? He knows there's definitely some sensationalism at work, but then again he's never asked Frank much in the way of details.

Frank winces and wishes he could, whatever, cover Gerard's ears or something. This isn't anything he ever wanted Gerard to hear, even when they were still just friends and roommates. Now...now, he would pay good money to shut those people up. But they just keep going, an endless litany of his sins.

"It says they aren't even sure how many--"

"--sewn shut, like a horror movie--"

"--can't believe someone like that actually exists."

He can't look at Gerard. He can't.

And god, Gerard doesn't know why, but he can't stop listening to them. He wants to but some part of him needs to hear this, needs to hear the things Frank won't talk about.

Finally, he says, under his breath, so only Frank can hear it, "When we get to Brian's, I want you to tell me. I'm not going to run away and I'm not freaked out--" (and that's not entirely true) "I just need to know the truth." He's looking resolutely at his feet as he says it, expression indecipherable.

There is nothing Frank would like less than telling Gerard everything. Right now, he'd rather a whole squadron of FBI guys jumped out and arrested him. He isn't ashamed of what he's done, but the look on Gerard's face...this blank look is miserable enough, but after?

But there is no choice, so he just nods. "I will."

"Thank you," Gerard says, quietly, and he squeezes Frank's hand. "Look, I love you, okay? And I know what you are. I... I just don't want to have to hear this from other people first." He feels almost sick, still half-listening to the conversation going on around them.

Frank nods and tries to close his ears to the voices but he can't quite make it go away, especially with the rest of the bus practically silent. It takes all of his self-control not to wince, to draw attention and give himself away.

"I can't believe they haven't caught this freak."

"--kids, yeah, and they were too ripped up for the police to tell if he, you know--"

At that Gerard's hand, still holding Frank's, squeezes hard and almost painful. He's sure Frank didn't (or is he? Some part of him points out that he just doesn't want to think about if Frank did)--Frank wouldn't--but he needs to know. "Did you--" he mouthes, glad that the seat across from them is empty.

Frank shakes his head as emphatically as he can without being painfully obvious, and looks at Gerard with his most pleading eyes. I would never. He hates that the papers always assume things like that, mixing truth with lies until nothing feels real anymore.

Gerard breathes out a sigh of relief, body relaxing visibly, hand loosening its tight grip around Frank's. I could deal with the rest, but not that. "Good," he mouths, and then, "Thank you."

Frank smiles, weak and exhausted, but it cheers him a little that he can at least give Gerard this one thing. He shuts his eyes, wishing that the tension would go away so he could get some sleep and get away from this monumentally uncomfortable conversation.

"Let's get some sleep," Gerard murmurs into his ear, then leaning heavily against the window, hand still entwined in Frank's. He closes his eyes, tries to relax and block out the conversation around them. He can sleep just about anywhere, but this time he has a feeling he's going to be doing a lot of pretending to be asleep for Frank's sake.

Frank shuts his eyes as well, but he can't manage anything more than an uneasy drifting. Still, he refuses to open his eyes for the next few hours, until he feels almost like he's slept when the bus finally stops.
