Last night was the most INTENSE Monopoly game of my ENTIRE LIFE. FIVE HOURS. SHOUTING, SUICIDE, STRIPPERS AND TROPHY BOYS WIVES. It was awesome. A++, would play again.

Unfortunately, I was sitting half on a matress on the floor, so my lower back and tailbone are KILLING ME NOW, plus I had ballroom dance this morning, with rumba and HIP ACTION OW. But now I'm back in my room, and it's time for...more picspam! (Very Gerard-heavy)

"It should show up in ten minutes or so, if it's on time." And they both know how likely that is. Frank takes a long drink and gives Gerard a concerned face and speaks low. "Look, we've got to act natural. If you're all twitchy, everyone knows you've got something to hide. Trust me." He's got years of practice pretending he hasn't done anything wrong, and he knows that this is much harder for Gerard.

Gerard takes a long, shaky breath. "Yeah, I know. I'm sorry. I just... I'm not good at this," he says, looking at the floor. He takes another breath and then bites into his sandwich, trying to calm himself down, and it's going to be one hellish bus ride. He hopes that he can get some sleep, lean against the window with his hood over his face so that people won't be able to recognise him.

"You'll be fine." He glances behind to make sure no one is watching too closely, then transfers the bag still holding his sandwich into the same hand as the soda, and cups Gerard's face gently, leaning in close enough to brush his lips against his cheek. "I won't let anyone hurt you."

Gerard sighs, relaxing a little, and manages a soft "Thanks, Frankie." His hand rests on Frank's leg, and it's a testament to how nervous he still is, because his fingers are drumming against Frank's leg, occasionally stopping to draw random little patterms.

"You just," he swipes his thumb over the corner of Gerard's mouth, "stay calm. I'll take care of everything. Take care of you." And he will. Gerard is his first priority now, as if he ever was anything else. He was willing to help out Pete for the sake of good feeling, but Gerard? He wonders if Gerard knows that Frank would do anything he asked. It would probably scare him. He should say something more, but the bus is pulling up and on is definitely better than off, so he presses another light kiss to Gerard's lips and pulls away.

Gerard gets up, fingers tangling with those in Frank's free hand, and they make their way onto the bus, all the way to the back. Gerard settles down next to the window, and they're lucky enough that no one takes the seat across from them by the time the bus starts moving. They're alone in the last seat on the bus, and Gerard feels more than a little relieved at that, happy to not have to deal with inquiring glances or (god forbid) recognition.

Seated and apparently safe, Frank retrieves his lunch and makes quick work of the sandwich--evading capture is hungry work. He breaks the cookie carefully in half and fails miserably. He leans against Gerard, taking advantage of the lack of eyes on them and offers him the bigger half, and refrains from saying "something sweet for my something sweet" or something equally vomit-worthy.

Gerard takes the cookie, nibbling on it, but it's clear he doesn't have much appetite. His sandwich is mostly finished, but he's pretty much forgotten about it in the stress of getting onto the bus without being seen. It's something he's just going to have to get used to, he knows, but the thought doesn't make it any easier in practice.

"You can have the rest," he says, low. He's not expecting people to be listening in, but he's not taking any chances. Not at this point.

Frank nods, and he can't think of anything to say, so he just keeps leaning against Gerard a little and hopes that Gee will at least be able to fall asleep--whatever can get him through this.

It takes a little while, but Gerard drops off to sleep, face pressed against the window, and at some point while he's sleeping his arm jerks out, fumbling around until his hand is over Frank's, and then his hand grips Frank's hand, surprisingly tight--considering he's asleep.

Frank's not asleep--he's still keeping on edge, just in case that middle-aged woman with the cellphone is actually talking to like, the FBI or something, just in case he needs to make up an excuse or make a break for it (he's mapped out all the emergency exits in his mind)--and he just squeezes back, hoping that it's enough to give Gerard some comfort in his sleep.

Gerard sleeps on, oblivious to the way he's clutching Frank, and it's only when the bus stops at the next stop (they're somewhere in Pennsylvania, but he's not really sure where) that he wakes, abrupt as the bus jolts to a stop.

Gerard looks kind of spooked, so Frank squeezes his hand once more and rubs his thumb across Gerard's pulse, just for good measure. "Hey, it's cool, we're at the stop." We're not being boarded or anything, no one knows we're here.

Gerard blinks a few times, still a little sleep-indistinct, and mumbles, "Are we getting off?" Frank had mentioned finding some way of properly disguising him at the next stop, he remembers, and he's torn between wanting to get off and do it or staying on where he's (fairly) sure he's safe.

"Have to, unless we want to ride this bus to like, Detroit, or wherever." He stands, dusting some residual crumbs off his jeans and offers Gerard his hand. "We gotta get to Walgreens. I need supplies to make you one hundred percent less recognizable."

Gerard takes his hand and stands up, slipping his sunglasses back on (although it's four in the afternoon, so it looks a little out of place) and they head out of the bus. No one is really paying much attention to them, and the general crowd is exhausted from travel and not particularly observant. They've gotten lucky.

It's even luckier when they walk down the street and see a Walgreens, and Gerard isn't even going to start trying to figure out the odds of that, even if he is pretty good at math.

"What're you planning on doing?" he asks, once he's sure that they're out of earshot of everyone.

Frank reaches up to finger Gerard's hair--dark, shaggy, a little stringy from overgrowth and lack of washing--and makes a small face. He likes Gerard's hair, especially when he gets to run his fingers through.

"Crop it, definitely. Maybe go lighter?" His first instinct is to just bleach it--sure, it would draw attention, but it would be a totally different brand. Most people probably wouldn't even think to connect a bleached blonde with inky black.

"Yeah," Gerard says, nodding. "Bleach the hell out of it or something." He can't quite picture himself with white hair, but he definitely wants to try it, just to see if he can pull it off. "So, gallon of bleach and some scissors?" They're nearly to the Walgreens and Gerard shifts, looking a little nervous, because for all he knows the store is full of people.

"Um," Frank tries to look through the windows without being super obvious. It doesn't look like there are too many people in there, but there are also periodicals which may or may not have Gerard's photo splashed over them. "You want to wait out here, or will you draw more attention as the creepy lurker guy?"

"I'll stay back," Gerard says, because he wasn't exactly keen on going in in the first place. "Maybe back a ways so it doesn't look too weird." It's not a big town, and across from the Walgreens is a small but dense patch of woods, and he gestures to it. "Over there." He's not crazy about the idea of hiding out in the woods, but it's definitely safer than going in the building.

"Okay, I'll find you." He would be laughing at the idea of Gerard hiding out in the woods--so not an outdoorsy person--but it's serious, so he just makes a beeline for the haircare aisle.

It takes longer than he expected to find the dye he wants (all this "Color Revitalizing" and "Highlight Sculpting" shit, he just wants some goddamn bleach) and he just grabs a random pair of scissors--he's not exactly a trained stylist, so it's pretty much going to be chop and go.

The cashier tries to make small talk with him, and he feels a little bad for blowing her off, but mostly he just wants to get back to Gerard. He heads out across the parking lot, stopping at the small line of trees.

Gerard makes his way into the woods, stopping before he gets too far in because he's really not keen on the idea of getting lost, and leans heavily against a tree, trying to force himself not to be nervous (because it's only the woods, he keeps telling himself, but he can't see the ground very well and it's dark and for all he knows there could be needles in the dirt left by someone and he would never know and--).

He's relieved, then, to look up and see Frank making his way across the parking lot, and he picks his way past all the fallen branches (not needles) on the ground to make it back to him. "Did you get the stuff?" he asks, gesturing to the bag, and he's trying to figure out where they're going to do this, because they don't really have a hotel room anymore.

"Yeah, all set." He's strangely relieved to see Gerard emerging from the trees--he was only gone for a few minutes, but he couldn't quash the fear that the law was waiting to swoop in as soon as he looked the other way--and he holds up the bag with a small smile.

There really isn't anyway that they can do this without a real bathroom, so even though he wants to just sit in the dark somewhere, they don't have a lot of choices. "We need a room."

Gerard pauses, considering, and then nods. "Did you see one around?" There's only so long he can wander around with sunglasses on without seeming totally suspicious, but he hasn't seen any hotels around the area. They've got about an hour before the sun starts going down, and he wants to get somewhere relatively safe by then.
